I'm Late!!! :(

Yes, it totally slipped my mind, I had remembered I had my first post due but the date slipped my mind!! Ughh!! How frustrating! This assignment was actually one I was looking forward to. I decided not to be discouraged by my slip up though. I decided I would post anyway. I noticed my classmates commented on my previous post and enjoyed what I had to say, I hope it goes for this one as well. Well, here goes nothing...

"Is technology causing me to lose as much as I gain?" Sadly the answer is no, I am losing so much due to the tech-world. I have such a bitter-sweet relationship with technology. I am constantly connected and it really distracts me from everything! I can't get a thing done without being interrupted by a text, checking Facebook, updating a status, stopping to stare at the TV. screen for more than a couple minutes... and actually I was just away from typing this because I had to respond to a message. I hate that technology has become so easy, so fast that it comes to me without trying. I think it is a mean of constantly being in tune to the outside world, our friends, and others we might not know like celebrities, or events. It’s being connected to something or someone where as otherwise you might be left alone. Especially for young adults the feeling of being lonesome is a horrible thing. Some people could possibly not fathom the idea of being by themselves without that connection. Everyone at school is online; in fact part of our education is online.

School online was one of the most difficult challenges for me. I had too many distractions where I was supposed to have had school work and study. I had to give that up. Unfortunately this happens too much now a day. I am constantly losing time, sleep, and my grades because I am distracted. Students can benefit from technology, but really who can resist fun and friends to work and study? It's so difficult to make the right decision but sometimes we do. When I do choose to use technology to benefit me as a student I am recompensed so much more than when I choose to play online. The internet has so much information that is beneficial to everyone not just students. You could use the internet for research, a phone call to schedule a conference, a text message to ask a fellow classmate about an assignment, or the computer to type up a paper.

It’s a hard decision really. We must keep our priorities in order to realize that having technology can be fun and games but it is really a tool. It helps us in so many ways by facilitating information and communication. Hopefully next time you are faced with the decision of using technology as a tool or a distraction, you will be able to make the right choice. It is hard but there are always more benefits when you make the right choice.

Technology also poses as a benefit in education when used correctly. For example: Long distance learning.

So many distractions online.

I thought this video was fun and educational! Take a look!

Hello Bloggers!

My name is Adriana and today I have ventured across the challenge that is blogging! I have started this blog for my English 101 class at Arizona Western College. It's only been my first semester here and I have been experiencing new things everyday, for example this blog, my very first that I have named Technology: Bits and Bytes.

And now a little bit about myself...
Like I had mentioned I am a student: a freshman at Arizona Western College. I am struggling just to get by here whereas in high school I breezed through every course scoring A’s and B’s. My education is a big part of my life and only wish to succeed in learning something new everyday. Besides school, I spend the rest of my days with my loving family, silly friends, and amazing boyfriend.

My family consists of my younger sister, Anayeli, my father, my Uncle Cesar, Grandmother Kiko, and pet dog named Tico. I love them very much and know they love me. I have very caring friends I cherish and consider part of my family. They are my best friends are Daniela, Christina, and Melissa. My boyfriend of three years, Arnold, is also another great person in my life. He has been by my side on good days and bad days. Everything I love to do, I do with these people.

What I do that I love? I love trying new food. I love to ride quads in the desert and camping out. I love traveling. I enjoy all kinds of music. I like spending time with my doggy. I love going out to parties. I love shopping and going to the movies. I have many interests but one in particular is technology. I have dedicated this blog to it. This is going to be fun… The fact that I’ll be receiving a grade for this might just come as a bonus.
